De RADAr is een diagnostische toets voor academische taalvaardigheid. Op de Radboud Universiteit maken alle eerstejaars de RADAr in de taal waarin zij hun bachelor volgen. De toets geeft de studenten inzicht in hun academische taalvaardigheid en maakt studenten bewust van het belang van een goede taalvaardigheid voor het succesvol doorlopen van een universitaire studie. Wat kenmerkt de inhoud van de RADAr? Schrijfvaardigheid: Grammatica, Spelling en Taalverzorging; Luistervaardigheid: Begrijpend luisteren; Leesvaardigheid: Vocabulaire, Logica en tekstverbanden, Drogredenen. Een proeftoets is online beschikbaar.

On 29 November 2016 the deadline for the transposition of Directive 2014/66/EU on the conditions of entry and residence of third-country nationals in the framework of an intra-corporate transfer expired. This so called ICT Directive regulates the temporary secondment of managers, specialists or trainee employees who are transferred from a company outside the EU to an entity of the same undertaking or group of undertakings inside the EU, while staying on their home country employment contract, and who reside outside the EU at the time of application. This book highlights the central themes, problem issues and implementation in selected Member States of this ICT Directive. The contributions to this book are based on lectures presented at a seminar on this Directive, organised in November 2017 by the Centre for Migration Law, Radboud University Nijmegen, together with Tesseltje de Lange of the University of Amsterdam, under the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence program. These contributions deal with the negotiations and transposition of the Directive, the role employment and social security rights play in the ICT Directive, a comparison with the EU Russia Agreement of 1997 as well as a business perspective and a migrants' rights perspective. And it discusses the implementation in The Netherlands, Germany, Spain and Sweden.

Internationalisation and Englishization in Higher Education have increased in the past decade. Many stakeholders wonder whether studying in a foreign language has consequences for study outcomes. This dissertation looks at the relationship between the study outcomes of German students at a Dutch university and their second language skills in Dutch and in English. The central research question was: What are the challenges, benefits, and drawbacks for students studying in other than their native language? Is there an effect of second language competence on study outcomes? The central research question is tested in four studies.The Dutch studies were based on longitudinal data. The effect of language proficiency has been studied through quantitative studies and interviews. For the English studies, examination answers were analyzed for the possible effect of language proficiency on grades.This dissertation demonstrates that at the level of a relatively short text such as an answer to an examination question, the degree of foreign language proficiency has a minor effect on grades. However, when one ‘zooms out’ to the bigger picture of overall outcomes over a complete year the effect of proficiency in the second or foreign language emerges.
